Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
If a child is identified as needing extra support at any time throughout their schooling our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) Mrs Vanessa Watts will contact parents and work with the class teacher to draw up an intervention plan. Professionals from outside the school – for example, a Learning Support Advisory Teacher, or an Education Psychologist – may be involved in assessing the child’s needs and helping us to provide resources to meet them. The school has full access to the Multi Agency Team to identify and provide a wide range of support for pupils and families. This is only done with the full knowledge and co-operation of the parents.
Corvedale School is committed to promoting disability equality for disabled pupils, staff, parents and others visiting the school. We ensure that disabled pupils are able to participate and achieve in every aspect of school life through: setting suitable learning challenges; responding to pupils diverse needs; overcoming potential barriers to learning and assessment for individuals and groups of pupils. The school has an Accessibility Policy and Plan which sets out the how we enable disabled pupils to participate fully in the school curriculum, improve the physical environment of the school to increase the extent to which disabled pupils can take advantage of education and associated services. The full Accessibility Policy and Plan is available in school for parents/carers to read on request or available to download here.
